Berget AI exists so European organisations can use AI without giving up control of their data. Our own hardware, in Swedish data centres, under EU law.

Our story

Why we started Berget AI

Many organisations are held back in their pursuit of AI. Some struggle with legal and regulatory challenges, others lack the skills or capital to train, host and serve their own models. Many are reluctant to invest in GPUs upfront, or lack access to language models that understand their language.

So we built Berget AI. Sovereign, open, and sustainable AI infrastructure that lets every organisation innovate without compromise.

The name is Swedish for 'mountain'. Sweden has plenty of them, and many host underground data centres. Why keep your data in the cloud when you can keep it in 'Berget'?

Open source and community-driven innovation make AI safer, more transparent and more affordable. Determined communities overcome impossible obstacles, build new tools and create open standards that work for everyone.

European innovation

Europe needs its own AI agenda, innovation system and sovereignty, especially as geopolitics grows more volatile. We want to help build that, together with businesses, organisations and communities across the continent.

Integrity and privacy

Privacy and regulation are strengths when they create a level playing field and favour simplicity over complexity. We enable European organisations to innovate with AI in a safe and responsible way.
